Hawaii FIRE
- Volcano Nat’l Park Caldera Feb 2009
Volcanic Activity continues at both the Caldera at Volcano National Park and lava flow into the ocean at Kalapana.
July 2008
Talk about a great 4th of July present – this picture was taken from the hike at the Kalapana coastline. It is about a 15 minute hike and you do want to wear shoes people! I can’t tell you how many ladies I saw with little tiny non-shoes – I am positive they will never do that again. Get rid of fashion and be safe. Even for myself you had to watch where you stepped. This is not like walking on an asphalt road.

Full Moon Lava Show July 2008
As the night grew dark we had a full moon that night – then 4th of July with the moonlight showing off the great clouds.
This picture was taken soon after the activity started (May 2008) at Hawaii National Park at the Hale Mau Mau caldera this year. If you are visiting our island you will want to see the Caldera activity and the Kalapana coastline activity. One is at a cold elevation of 3000 ft (ski jacket weather) and the coastal action is in the heat.
